Posture Analysis Software - PostureDoc
Postural analysis and deviations from a postural norm are well referenced in the literature. Posture has been shown to be a reliable objective measure of the health of the patient?s neuromusculoskeletal system. Postural dysfunction has been implicated in numerous named conditions such as spondylosis, temporomandibular dysfunction, iliotibial band syndrome, chronic fatigue, cervicogenic pain, hypertension and others.
A neutral, normal posture is clearly an important clinical outcome. In addition, patients have an innate appreciation of their posture and changes from what they perceive as normal. Interestingly, here in South America where we practice, postural dysfunction or "mala postura" is an accepted and common medical diagnosis.
What is computerized postural analysis?
Nothing more than a tool to quantify the basic postural assessment that what we learned in school. By quantifying the assessment, you create data that can be captured, measured, demonstrated to the patient and compared to future examinations. You just can't do that by eyeballing a high right shoulder or a forward head translation.
Will I need a buy a lot of other stuff?
No. Other than our software, you probably have everything you need to begin computerized postural analysis right now. A digital camera with tripod, computer and printer are all the additional equipment that is required. And dont worry if you don?t have the most up to date, most powerful equipment. PostureDoc was designed to function perfectly with just the basic equipment.
A digital camera with a USB connection will expedite the process of transferring the images from camera to computer for processing. If your computer can run Windows (any version) PostureDoc will perform perfectly. We believe the printer is the most important element. With a higher quality report it will be easier to demonstrate the findings to the patient.
The report will also act as promotional material as your patients show it to their friends and family. For that reason, the better the printer, the better your results. So save your money. Don?t go out and buy the latest, greatest computer or camera. Use what you already have. But if your printer is a 15 year old dot matrix (remember those?) it might be time for an upgrade.
How does the price compare to the other systems?
Check it out yourself. We have intentionally priced PostureDoc way below the competition for three reasons. 1) We believe in this tool and we want as many people as possible to enjoy its benefits. 2) In case you do have to purchase some new equipment (like that old dot matrix printer for example) we want you to have some spare change left over to do that. 3) We are working chiropractors here in South America. Our expenses are incredibly low. Unlike the other guys, taking care of patients is our main source of income. PostureDoc is a great way to help doctors get busier and increase INCOME.
How does it work?
The process is so simple; anyone in your office can conduct an analysis. In fact, our CAs always perform the actual analysis. The doctors simply check the results and make the appropriate recommendations. Two photos, an AP and a Lateral, are taken of the patient as the fully clothed patient stands in a normal relaxed position. The images are transferred automatically to the PostureDoc program. Just few button clicks on easily identifiable anatomical landmarks and the system does the rest. Based on the patient?s postural presentation, a "virtual x-ray" is rendered.
The postural distortions are automatically presented, both visually and in tabulated form. The tabulated data reports both specific regions affected as well as an overall postural "score". This will allow your visual type patients as well as your more analytical types to fully appreciate their test results. A report, on-screen or hard copy or both, is generated and presented. Check out an example of the hard copy report here. There are also options to record the patient?s data, including chief complaints, if desired. Thats about it.
How accurate is it?
We believe that nothing beats radiographic examination for spinal assessment. However, computerized postural analysis is the next best thing when investigating how external distortions may be causing or affecting internal derangements. And it?s a heck of a lot more accurate than just "high right shoulder".
Is it repeatable?
Postural analysis has been shown to be repeatable. The problem is, until computerized analysis, the analysis was not quantifiable. So, after a course of treatment, a forward head translation might still be a forward head translation The question is, how far forward? Was there improvement? A decrease in distortion and a return to normal?
By quantifying postural distortions, you can show those changes. You can demonstrate a reduction in postural dysfunction after a course of treatment. Computerized postural analysis allows you to objectively demonstrate progress, or lack of progress, to your patients, to third party payers and to yourself.
How do I use it in my practice?
How you use it depends on your practice style. We use the system for screenings, both in and out of the office; for our initial intake process and at our re-evaluations. The software functions perfectly in all those applications.
Do I have to perform the analysis?
No, we actually recommend that the doctor does not perform the actual analysis. Your job is to interpret the results and make the appropriate recommendations.
Is an analysis billable?
Anything is billable. Re-imbursable is another question. Some doctors are reporting success with CPT code 97750. However, unlike some other vendors, we will NOT imply that computerized postural analysis is consistently re-imbursable. Your results may vary. When researching postural analysis systems, it is better to evaluate them on their merits and benefits to you apart from the billable factor.
In regards to increasing profits, the Posture Doc can pay for itself the first week, Normal charge is $75.00 for each examination as well as generating a report with the exam.
Posture exams are included in both the Mercy and CCP guidlines. I use CPT code 97750, Computer Posture Analysis, and do a re-exam every 10 visits.
I would highly recommend your program without reservation to any doctor who wants to see improved retention and better profit.
Why PostureDoc and not one of the other systems?
Glad you asked. We are very proud of PostureDoc. Several years ago, we were disappointed with the postural analysis products available. To us, there was no system which combined the technological power of computerized postural analysis with the ease of use and at a price level that represented a value for our clinics. Additionally, we needed a system that could function in an environment where English was not the first language, a system that could be operated by anyone with only minimal instruction and guidance. That product did not exist. So we created PostureDoc. Now, with version 2.01, we have a system is being used by doctors all over the world to effectively and affordably incorporate computerized postural analysis into their clinical procedures. And they are doing that with a minimum of investment in time, training or equipment. All the taste and none of the calories.
